Monte S. Shade, 85, of Kapolei, Hawaii, formerly of Altoona, died unexpectedly in Queens Hospital, Honolulu, on July 9, 2025, from an apparent heart problem. He was born in Altoona, son of Mary and Earle "Pete" Shade.
He is survived by a sister, Leilani McNulty, of Fairbanks, Alaska; a brother, Kent, and wife, Elizabeth, of Hollidaysburg; a beloved cousin, Lawrence Hartman of Henderson, Nev.; and several nieces and nephews.
Monte's ashes will be scattered in the South Pacific Ocean off the coast of the Hawaiian Islands, home of his heart.
