Lyle Virgil Rea

Lyle Virgil Rea, 86, of Altoona, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday evening at Van Zandt VA Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Sackett, a son of the late Virgil P. and Ruby Edessa "Dessie" (Bauder) Rea.

He married Carole K. Hartley on June 17, 1960. Just last week, they celebrated 65 years together.

Surviving are his wife, Carole; two daughters, LeeAnn Speacht (Gary) and Melissa Plants (Craig); three grandchildren: Lyndsay Kwapis (Joel), Kayla Burghard (Cole) and Daniel Plants; two great-granddaughters, Zoey Isabella and Kinsley Rea; and nephew "son," Tim Ingram (Jennifer); and his beloved dog, Cocoa Puff.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Joy K. Rea Alt, on March 13, 2025.

Mr. Rea was a member of Puzzletown Road Bible Church, Duncansville.

He was a 1957 graduate of Kane High School and a U.S. Army veteran attaining the rank of SP4.

Lyle retired as a set-up operator from SKF USA Inc. in 1999 following 35 years' service and worked as a funeral assistant at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc. for more than 23 years.

He enjoyed being active in the Blair Senior Services programs and was a volunteer at UPMC Altoona for more than 20 years.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, July 11, 2025, at Puzzletown Road Bible Church, 316 Puzzletown Road, Duncansville, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. with Pastor Jon Gross officiating.

Interment will be made at Carson Valley Cemetery.
