James K. Phelan, 55, of Claysburg, formerly of Altoona, passed away Wednesday at home. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Linda J. Rabenstein.
On May 26, 2016, in Altoona, he married Jennifer Smith, who preceded him in death on Aug. 22, 2024.
Surviving are three children: Nick Werner, Alexis Phelan and Elena Phelan-Hernandez; two stepchildren, Jessilyn and John O'Neill; two sisters, Cynthia Venesky and Kristy Harr; and his best friend, Pat.
Jim was a 1989 graduate of Altoona Area High School. He was employed for over 20 years as a supervisor and production worker at Blair Signs.
He attended New Life Worship Center, Altoona, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, carpentry, sports and his dogs, "Izzy" and "Rusty."
Friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg. A meal will be provided at the Greenfield/Claysburg Community Center, 122 Senior Drive, Claysburg, following the services at the funeral home.
