Father Julio Rivero, TOR, a member of the Franciscan Friars of the Third Order Regular, Province of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, died Friday at St. Francis Friary in Loretto. He was 96. Father Julio was born in New York City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rogelio and Carmen (Blanco) Rivero; as well as his seven brothers: Gilbert, Edwardo, Rogelio, George, Anselmo, Raymond and Ricardo; and two sisters, Adela and Iluminada.
He is survived by his niece, Candida Navedo; numerous nephews, nieces, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and his Franciscan Community.
Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Chapel on the campus of Saint Francis University in Loretto. A vigil prayer service will follow at 7 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2025, with the Very Reverend Joseph Lehman, TOR, as principal celebrant, it will also be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings for the Friars’ Retirement Fund can be made payable to: Franciscan Friars TOR, P.O. Box 500, Loretto, PA 15940.
