Dorothy "Dot" Singer, 84, of Altoona, peacefully passed away Tuesday at UPMC Altoona. She was born in Altoona, a daughter of the late Pete and Margaret (Padula) Shalock.
Dorothy was married to Gerald "Jerry" Singer, who preceded her in death in December 2008.
She is survived by children: Debra Shannon Mallard, Terri Singer-Little and Michael Singer. She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Greg, Mark, Tom Jr., Kim Little, Laura Shannon and Olivia Singer; great-grandchildren: Reagan, Mark Jr. and Eliot; a sister, Patricia Carreri; brother-in-law, Tony Rowan; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings: Helen DeArmitt, Judy Rowan and Michael Shalock.
Dorothy devoted her life to her husband and family. She was especially known for hosting holiday gatherings, often spending days preparing meals for those she loved. Her passions included cooking, reading her Bible and sharing time with family and friends. She was a devoted Christian who kept her faith throughout her struggles and illness.
The family wishes to sincerely thank Dorothy's niece, Chrissy DeArmitt, and granddaughter, Laura Shannon, for the excellent care they helped give her.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., 108 Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Blair Memorial Park, Altoona, PA.
