Carmen V. Schwartz, 99, Duncansville, died Sunday at home. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Furman David "Fred" and Pauline (Johnson) Hamler.
She married Melvin C. Schwartz on Feb. 9, 1946, in Altoona. He preceded her in death on Oct. 16, 2009.
Surviving are three sons: David C., Gary L. and Jeffrey L. (Mary); five grandchildren: Christine Daubert (Mike), Jonathan Schwartz (Amy), Amy Schroeder (Bryan), Brandon Schwartz (Molly) and Dr. Janaye Schwartz; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Sharon, in 2022.
Carmen was a 1943 graduate of Altoona High School. She retired from Riverside Markets.
She was a member of Foot of Ten Independent Baptist Church and previously enjoyed bowling and traveling.
Friends will be received from 4 until the 6 p.m. funeral service Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., Duncansville. Pastor Dave Huston will officiate. Interment will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery.
