William Ross Garlick Jr.

He was preceded in death by his mother; and his grandparents: Homer and Eleanor Miller and Raymond and Irene Garlick.

William is survived by his son, Aaron C. Garlick; his father, William R. Sr.; two sisters, Vicki McMonigal (Todd) and Susan Garlick (Scott Smith); nieces and nephews: Emily Hazlett (Allen), Rachel Webb (Brendan), Tyler McMonigal, Connor Smith and Gabriel Smith; a great-nephew, Levi Webb; and many special friends. Bill is also survived by his ex-wife, Brenda Hall; and his ex-father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ronald and Sharon Hrzic.

He was a 1991 graduate of Altoona Area High School, the Altoona Area Vo Tech and a 1996 graduate of the Johnstown Regional Police Academy.

Bill served in local law enforcement from 1997 until 2025 — serving in the Tyrone Police Department, Blair County Sheriff Department, Blair County Drug Task Force, Williamsburg Police Department, Department of Homeland Security and Department of Corrections – Rockview. He was most recently employed at Value Drug.

Bill enjoyed nature, the outdoors and could find activities to do during all the seasons. He enjoyed motorcycles, dirt bikes, ATVs, old cars and he was great at fixing small engines. He was always on the go, traveling to festivals or enjoying sunsets in Madeira Beach, Fla. He loved trying new foods and sharing his experiences with others. Bill was also an avid Pittsburgh Penguins and Florida Gators fan.

Bill was the life of the party, always giving to others, but most of all, he loved his son, Aaron, and planning adventures with him.

Friends will be received from 4 until the 7 p.m. funeral service Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Rose Hill Funeral & Cremation Care Inc., 118 Rosehill Cemetery Drive, Altoona, with Pastor Mike Blackie, officiant.
