Michael J. Long, 70, of Queen, passed away at his residence late Monday evening. He was born in Altoona, the son of the late William H. and Edna (Fochler) Long.
He married Bonnie Geis on July 8, 1978, at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 46 years; two sons, Adam Long (Heather) of Hollidaysburg and Michael Long (Angelina) of Altoona; four grandchildren: Lakaia and Tensor Long, Baylee Scalice and Kaelab Ruggles; three brothers: William H. Long (Rose), Patrick J. Long (Karen) and David A. Long (Vicki); three sisters: Mary Truesdale (Richard), Marie Kissell (David) and Christina Long; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Regina Kelly.
Michael was a 1974 graduate of Altoona Area High School and retired after many years with the Altoona Housing Authority in maintenance.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 245 in State College.
Michael enjoyed cutting grass, playing cards, playing his guitar, writing music and building musical instruments, but he especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2025, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held at 3:45 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2025, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 2010 12th Ave., Altoona. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in Michael's memory to Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 2010 12th Ave., Altoona, PA 16601; or First Church of Christ Benevolent Fund, 113 Good Shepherd Road, Altoona, PA 16601.
