Kimbro J. Maurer, 64, of Portage, passed away June 28, 2025, in Pittsburgh. He was born on Aug. 17, 1960 in Altoona, the son of Dolores (Sanders) and James L. Maurer.
He is survived by his children: Kara Rhoades (Luke) of Tyrone, Kassie Westrick (Zach) of Ebensburg and Kip Maurer (Trisha) of Lilly; his grandchildren: Keegan, Carter and Sam Gwinn, Lina Rhoades,
Marley and Mia Westrick, Madison Clinemyer and Landon and Lucas McMahon; and his former wife and friend, Kathy (Hodge) Maurer. Kimbro was the brother of Jim Maurer (Mickey) of Cassandra.
Kimbro was a 1978 graduate of Portage Area High School.
He was formerly employed by Cooney Bros. Coal Co., New Enterprise Stone and Lime Co., and Imler's. Kimbro was a longtime coach and equipment manager at Bishop Carroll High School. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events. He will be missed by his pet cats.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., Portage. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Our Lady of the Alleghenies Church, Lilly, Fr. Matthew Reese, celebrant. Committal will be at St. Brigid Cemetery, Lilly.
