Kathleen M. "Bunny" Glunt, 88, of Altoona, died unexpectedly early Saturday morning at UPMC Altoona. She was born in Altoona, a daughter of the late Theodore Brobeck, who died when she was very young while serving during World War II, and Clara M. (Bettwy) Brobeck Himes. She was raised by her stepfather, the late Paul S. Himes, whom she loved as a father.
On June 14, 1958, she married Henry E. "Hank" Glunt at St. Mark's Catholic Church, Altoona.
She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years; her six children: Mark C. (Ellen), Michael T. (Paula), Kathleen M. (Charles) Taylor, Maureen A. (Jay) Lucas, Betsy A. (Ron) Beck and Karen L. (Denise Denny) Glunt; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Mary Louise Burton and Rosene Ann (Larry) Minster; and sister-in-law, Sonya Brobeck.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Mikayla; a great-granddaughter, Mary Jeanne; her brother, Theodore E. Brobeck; and a nephew, Timothy Brobeck.
Kathleen was a graduate of Altoona Catholic School and earned her degrees from Mount Aloysius College, Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Penn State University.
She retired as a principal at Altoona Area School District.
Kathleen was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellwood, where she taught religion classes. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and spending time at the cottage in Spruce Creek.
Kathleen greatly enjoyed her grandchildren and welcoming her great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, June 27, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellwood. A funeral Mass will be
celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with the
Rev. Michael Pleva, celebrant. Interment will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.
Arrangements are by Jon C. Russin Funeral Home Inc., Bellwood.
The family suggests that contributions in Kathleen's memory be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellwood; or St. Vincent DePaul Family Kitchen.
