Donna “Mamie” (Hamm) Beach, 89, Hastings, formerly of Martinsburg, passed away peacefully early Friday morning at Homewood Living, Martinsburg.
She was born in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late John R. “Daddy Jack” and Ethel M. “Nana” (Madara) Hamm. On June 23, 1954, she married Jesse Richard “Dick” “Ike” Beach in Martinsburg.
He preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 2017, after 63 years of marriage.
Surviving are two sons, Victor Beach (Kathleen) and Wesley Beach (Theresa); a daughter, Nan Beach; a daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Beach, all of Hastings; 11 grandchildren: Joshua Beach (Kristy), Justin Beach, Tyler Beach (Allison), Bryce Beach (Katlyn), Jarrett Beach, Philip Beach, Jacob Beach (Olivia), Jennifer Allen (Trevor), Sara Meese (Brian), Zane McElhenny and Quinn McElhenny; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Lou Metzler in Virginia; a brother, Philip Kent Hamm (Leslie) in South Carolina; and many wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a son, Marcus Richard Beach.
Donna was a 1954 graduate of Morrisons Cove High School, Martinsburg. She was a wonderful, caring mother and homemaker. She worked for many years at the Cambria Heights cafeteria in the bake shop. Not a spring or summer would go by where she would not be seen tending to her beautiful flower beds, which were a source of great pride for her.
She loved spending time with her family and attending her children’s and grandchildren’s many activities with great joy and enthusiasm. Donna was an accomplished artist (oil painting, watercolors, ceramics and tool painting, to name a few). She was a talented seamstress, enjoyed needle work, scrapbooking and making braided rugs, which were among some of her favorite hobbies. She also enjoyed flea markets, auctions, shopping/browsing, antiques and various collectibles.
Donna thoroughly enjoyed beach vacations, spending sleepless nights with her younger sister, Dotty Lou, talking, crafting, creating and decorating. For years, she participated in a monthly card club with her close friends. Later in life, she enjoyed reading novels, going to Altoona Curve baseball games, watching the Pittsburgh Pirates on television and going out for Friday evening suppers.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until noon Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Martinsburg Memorial Church of the Brethren, where a funeral service will begin at noon, Pastor Lloy Blattenberger officiating. Interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Martinsburg.
