Richard C. Eck

April 14, 1956 – May 14, 2025

Richard C. Eck, 69, of Altoona, passed away of natural causes Wednesday afternoon at his residence. He was born in Teanack, N.J., son of the late Charles and Evelyn (Ryan) Eck.

Rich is survived by his loving wife, Dana; his three sons: Austin Eck (Samantha) of Raleigh, N.C., Ryan Eck (Kiley) of Altoona and Brandon Eck (Britget) of Seattle, Wash.; his daughter, Alyson Eck (Phil) of Pinellas Park, Fla.; five grandchildren: Weiland, Karolina, Weston, Evelyn and Devon Eck, and Benjamin, due June 2025; his brother, Donald Eck (Karen) of Washington Township, N.J.; two sisters, Diane Angell (Brian) of Warrensburg, N.Y., and Linda Irvin (Daniel) of Altoona; sister-in-law, Janet Eck of Emerson, N.J.; the mother of his children, Maureen Eck of Altoona; and the mother of his grandson Weiland, Nicole Kyler of Huntingdon.

He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy; and brothers, Robert and James Eck.

Rich received his Bachelor of Science from Washington State University. He had been employed as a licensed practical nurse at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home for the last 15 years and had previously been an agency LPN.

He was a member of St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church.

Rich was an avid reader, a lifelong learner and loved watching the history channel.

Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2025, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2025, at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church, 411 Wopsononock Ave., Altoona, PA 16601. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in Rich's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (www.stjude.org/memorial).
