Marcella C. Madden, 91, of Altoona, went to be with the Lord on May 9, 2025, at home surrounded by family. She was born in Altoona, the daughter of Daisy Gerard.
Marcella was the loving mother of three children; grandmother; and wife of 43 years to Alfred P. Madden. They were married on Feb. 6, 1960, until his passing on Nov. 14, 2003.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Daisy and Aden Fonner; a son, Douglas Madden; and three sisters: Thema Holmberg, Barbara Bailey and Pauline Brubaker.
Marcella is survived by a son, Brian Madden; and daughter, Michelle Miller (Rory), both of Altoona; along with grandchildren: Cory Carroll (Jeffrey) of Los Angeles, Calif., and Courtney Stoner (Patrick) of Alexandria, Va.; as well as sisters, Shirley Wilt of Brook Park, Ohio, and Grace Soyster of Roaring Spring.
Growing up, Marcella loved spending time with her sisters and walking all over Altoona together.
She worked for Butterick Co. Inc., Altoona, as a pattern folder for 44 years until her retirement.
She looked forward to her regular bingo and shopping trips with her sisters. Marcella would often leave the purchases in the trunk of the car until Freddie went to work the next day, even though he already knew.
After retirement, Marcella loved visiting and spending time with her grandchildren and her many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will take place at the convenience of the family.
