Jane Kennedy, a longtime resident of Tyrone, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025, at the Peaceful Pines assisted living facility in Madison, S.D.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Oscar Hammond of Tyrone; and her husband, Robert (Red) Kennedy.
Jane is survived by her daughters, Deb (Jerry) Gearhart of Madison, S.D., and Bobbi (Ron) Newcomer of York; along with four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
In her 91 years, Jane lived life to the fullest. She worked at many businesses in Tyrone, including Engelman's Florist, the Tyrone Daily Herald and Gardner's Candy store when she was younger. Jane enjoyed being outdoors. She enjoyed camping and liked to hunt and fish.
Jane was a 75-year member of the Tyrone American Legion and belonged to the Business and Professional Women's Organization (BPW). She was a member of the Jaffa Jobel Court and enjoyed working at the circus every year.
Jane will be buried in Burket Cemetery in Warriors Mark, next to her husband. Details of the graveside service will be announced at a later date by Derman Funeral Home Inc.
