Eugene M. "Udge" Shuma, 93, Altoona, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Hilltop Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, Altoona. He was born in Altoona, son of the late George R. and Susan A. (Bills) Shuma.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Juanita M. (Tyler) Shuma; sister, Patricia Detwiller; and brothers, Richard and Donald Shuma.
Surviving are nephews: Michael, Randall and Daniel Shuma; and sister-in-law, Lorraine Shuma.
Eugene worked as a mason in the construction industry. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Germany and earning the rank of PFC.
Eugene was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and Juniata VFW Post 8685.
He enjoyed bowling.
At Eugene's request, there will be no viewing. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2025, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 900 N. Fourth St., Altoona, with Father Nelson Javier TOR, celebrant. Private inurnment will be at Grandview Cemetery, Altoona.
Arrangements are by Rose Hill Funeral & Cremation Care Inc., 118 Rosehill Cemetery Drive, Altoona.
