Dorothy K. "Dottie" Stayer, 77, Altoona, passed away Wednesday at UPMC Altoona. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Merrill and Loretta (Woleslagle) Martin.
On April 27, 1968, she married Richard Dale Stayer.
In addition to her husband of 57 years; she is survived by two daughters, Pam Wertman (Terry) of Tyrone and Shelby Stayer of Altoona; grandsons, Joshua (Amanda) and Christopher (Grace) Wertman; great-grandsons, Asher and Eliot; siblings: Donna Blair, Sheryl Marcus (Harry), Eddie Hoover (Janice), Kevin Hoover (Nancy) and Ramona Martin; and sisters-in-law, Gloria Martin and Linda Hoover.
She was preceded in death by siblings: Merrill "Pepper" Martin, Dave Hoover, Billy Hoover, Bobby Hoover and Cookie Lynsie.
Dorothy was a dedicated homemaker whose warm heart and nurturing spirit touched the lives of many. For over 20 years, she brought joy to others while selling Avon, creating lasting friendships along the way. She had a deep appreciation for music and dancing, which brightened many moments in her life. Above all, Dorothy cherished the time spent with her family and grandchildren, creating lasting memories filled with love and laughter.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2025, at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., 719 N. Fourth Ave., Altoona; and from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at the funeral home, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 11 a.m. Interment will be made at Grandview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or the Alzheimer's Association.
