Don Wesley Shanholtz

Don Wesley Shanholtz, 94, of Williamsburg, passed away Monday morning at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, Roaring Spring. He was born in Springfield, Ohio, son of the late John W. and Hazel (Burns) Shanholtz.

On July 9, 1955, he married Norma Jean White in Williamsburg. She preceded him in death on Oct. 13, 2011.

Surviving are two sons, David W. Shanholtz (Julia) and Stephen W. Shanholtz (Chris), both of Williamsburg; eight grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua; and two sisters, Dorothy Black and Betty Adkins.

Don graduated from Hamlin High School in Hamlin, W.Va.

He then served during the Korean War in the U.S. Navy as a Boatswain's Mate Third Class.

Don worked as a journeyman mechanic and electrician for Westvaco and later retired from the Fonda Group, Williamsburg.

He was a member of the Williamsburg Lions Club and Williamsburg Alliance Church, where he served as an Elder and Sunday school teacher.

Don also served as a former board member and Board President for the Williamsburg School District.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2025, at Williamsburg Alliance Church; and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the church, where a funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., with Pastor Paul R. Campbell officiating. Private burial will be held at Royer Cemetery, rural Williamsburg.

Arrangements are by John K. Bolger Funeral Home Inc., Williamsburg.
