It is with great sadness that the family of Debra "Debbie" Jean Joseph, 73, Altoona, announces her passing. She went to be with the Lord Thursday with family by her side after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Aleck C. Joseph and Marie C. (Karl) Joseph.
Surviving are her sister and best friend, Linda L. Moyer (Robert); a brother-in-law, James A. Forshey; beloved nephews and nieces: Matthew J. (Rachael) Moyer, Jamie L. Forshey, Christy M. DeGennaro, Brian J. Forshey, Dana A. (Tim) Johnston, Alicia M. (Rick) Luchini, Kyle J. (Kate) DeGennaro, Haden J. (Kira) DeGennaro, Bailey T. (Sami) Kudlawiec, Blake D. Johnston, Corey D.
(Caitlin) Johnston and Ethan T. Johnston; great-nieces: Kate, Carly, Caroline and Claire Moyer, Alivia, Vivian and Elaina Luchini and Giselle and Giuliana DeGennaro. Debbie also leaves behind many cousins who were very special to her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara A. Forshey, in 2020.
She was a 1970 graduate of Altoona Area High School. Upon graduation, she entered the work force as a waitress at Tom & Joe's, a family owned and operated diner in downtown Altoona. She was also the manager of Ajay's for 25 years. Prior to retirement, she worked at Sheetz for many years in various positions.
Debbie enjoyed spending time with her family, watching Penn State and Steelers football games and coloring and playing cards with the residents at Blair Tower, many of whom became close friends.
A viewing and funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 22, 2025, at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church, Altoona, the Rev. Fr. Isaac Danevicius, officiant.
Arrangements are by The Good Funeral Home Inc., 108 Alto-Reste Park, Altoona. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Debbie's memory may contribute to St. George Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church. Your donations will serve as a testament to Debbie's life, reflecting her faith and her impact on those who were privileged to have known her.
Debbie, a beacon of kindness and loyalty, will forever live in our hearts. Her legacy will continue to inspire and guide us. While we mourn the loss of her physical presence, we find peace in knowing that her spirit lives on through the love she shared with us.
