Benjamin George ‘Ben’ Nagle

Ben married Diana Lynn Seidel on Sept. 11, 1976, in Bellwood.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years; his two sons, Benjamin James Nagle (Talitha Johnson) in South Dakota, and Joseph Lynn Nagle (Stephanie) of Altoona; two grandsons, Kaiden Nagle and Joseph Bradley Nagle; his sister, Kathleen Yon (Bill) of Altoona; sisters-in-law and their husbands, Penny and Bill Burns and Terri and Shawn Ferenzy; and several nieces and nephews.

Ben was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Nagle; and sister-in-law and her husband, Sandra and Gary Moore.

He was a 1971 graduate of Altoona Area High School. After graduation, Ben joined the U.S. Navy and served from 1971-75 on the USS LY Spear, AS36, Submarine Tender during the Vietnam War.

Ben worked at Garvey Manor for 21 years in the maintenance department and had previously spent 25 years at Boyer Candy as a packer and chocolate processor when he retired in 2020. He had gone on to become an Assistant Instructor for the Career and Technology Center.

He was a lifetime member of the Bellwood Sportsman’s Club and the Bellwood American Legion.

Ben enjoyed spending his time fishing, hunting and spending time at his cousin, Mike’s, hunting camp. He especially loved riding his motorcycle with his wife, Diana.

Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2025, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2025, in the Stevens Memorial Chapel with Andrew Jones. Interment will be held at Blair Memorial Park with military honors.

The family asks that contributions be made in Ben’s memory to Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.
