Thomas W. O’Shell

July 24, 1946 – April 13, 2025

Thomas W. O'Shell, 78, of Antis Township, died early Sunday morning at Hilltop Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Altoona. He was born in Altoona, a son of the late Harold T. and Ruth M. (McCaulley) O'Shell.

On May 4, 1968, he married Joyce A. Lightner at Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, Altoona.

Surviving are his beloved wife; a daughter, Betsy (Keith) Cron; two grandchildren, Thomas and Ruthie Cron; his brother, Robert (Debbie) O'Shell; and a sister-in-law, Donna O'Shell.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Adam and Alan; and a brother S. Lemoyne "Butch" O'Shell.

Tom retired as a line operator at PPG Industries, Tipton, and was a former member of the Army National Guard.

Thomas loved the Lord and was a member of Altoona Alliance Church.

He enjoyed woodworking, building wooden toys and cutting down trees. He loved fishing with his grandson, and in his younger years, enjoyed hunting with his brother.

Family and friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Altoona Alliance Church; and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2025, at the church.

A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday April 25, 2025, at Altoona Alliance Church, with Pastor Tim McGarvey officiating.

Arrangements are by Jon C. Russin Funeral Home Inc., Bellwood.

The family suggests that contributions in Tom's memory be made to Altoona Alliance Church, ear-marked for their mission fund.
