Richard William Ross, 75, of Antis Township, died Saturday afternoon at UPMC Altoona after a brief illness. He was born in Altoona, a son of the late Maxine (Ross) Wagner.
On Nov. 28, 1970, he married Susan Kay Stetter.
Surviving are his wife; two children, Amy S. (Jodi) Potutschnig and Shawn R. (Angel Mrkonja) Ross; six grandchildren: Nicole (Kaleb) Ross Fleck, Morgan (Brian) Heinle, Tyler (Andrea), Joshua and Connor Potutschnig and John R. Ross; five great-grandchildren: Kallie, Madden, Collins, Mabel and Vienna; three brothers: Rocky, James (Melda) and Freddy (Tammy) Wagner; two sisters, Bobbie Wagner and Vicky (Chuck) Schaefer; a brother-in-law, Samuel (Sally) Stetter; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Christopher W. Ross, on Nov. 5, 2016.
Richard retired as a carpenter for the Carpenters Union and most recently worked as a flagger for CSS Inc., Altoona.
He enjoyed having coffee with his buddies at Houser's in Bellwood, playing with his dog, Teddy, and driving his wife, Sue, crazy. Rick enjoyed working with his hands, doing many woodworking projects and tinkering around the house.
Richard was loved by his family.
A celebration of Rick's life will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2025, at UVHA, Main Street, Bellwood, with a brief service by Pastor Richard Maher at 12:30 p.m.
