Paul E. Barley Sr., 85, of Altoona, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday. He was born in Bellwood, son of the late Joseph H. and Pricilla M. (Eller) Barley.
Paul was twice married, first to Barbara J. Locke on April 30, 1960. She preceded him in death on Jan. 5, 1989. He then married Sharon E. Greiner on Nov. 19, 1990. She preceded him in death on Sept. 6, 2020.
Surviving are his five children: Paul Jr. (Sue), Scott (Beth), Lori Bond (Chuck) and Jennifer Barley, all of Altoona, and Lisa Johnson of Beavertown, Pa. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Paul is also survived by his sister, Linda L. Rhodes of Bellwood; and a brother, Charles (Patricia) of Altoona.
He was preceded in death by four sisters: Mary Sheets-Welch, Hilda Dougal, Clarabelle D. Huber and Jenny P. Showalter; two brothers, Joseph and Samuel Barley; a grandson, Paul Eugene Barley III; a son-in-law, Jeffrey Lynn Johnson; and a daughter-in-law, Patty Barley.
Paul was an active member of Altoona First Church of God.
He retired from Bellwood-Antis School District after more than 20 years of service.
He enjoyed camping, doing projects on the computer, getting together with his school classmates, helping others, organizing social events for the church and loved his dogs, Sparky Lynn and Prince Charming.
Friends and family will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 until the 5 p.m. funeral service Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Rose Hill Funeral & Cremation Care Inc., 118 Rosehill Cemetery Drive, Altoona, with Pastor Dale DiBernardinis, officiant.
