Paul C. "Bud" Yon, 85, of Altoona, died peacefully at home on Sunday. He was born in Altoona, a son of the late Melvin E. and Eleanor A. (Filer) Yon.
On July 31, 1968, he married Judy A. Morgan in Winchester, Va.
Bud is survived by Judy; a daughter, Michele L. "Micki" Yon of Altoona; three grandchildren: Casey Hartman (Justin) of Bellwood, Tyler Narehood (Natasha) of Madera and Colton Narehood (Amanda) of Altoona; five great-grandchildren: Maliya, Jonah, Landon, Tucker and Ella; and three nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Paul II; an infant daughter, Jacqueline; a son, Kim Narehood; and two brothers, Tom Yon and Richard "Dick" Yon.
Bud was employed as a truck driver from the age of 15, when he borrowed his older brother's license, to his eventual retirement after many years behind the wheel. He enjoyed his work as a driver, horses and farm tractors. He also enjoyed time spent with family dogs, especially his beloved Cleo, who he was seldom seen without in his retirement.
The family wishes to extend thanks to AMED services, the staff of Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center and his in-home caregivers, who made his last months comfortable and happy.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2025, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 7 p.m., with Pastor David Way officiating.
Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
