Jeanette M. Sweeney (formerly Reed), 86, of Bellefonte, originally of Tyrone, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2025.
She was born Feb. 17, 1939, in Tyrone, the daughter of the late Anthony "Tony" and Virginia (Turiano) Maisano. On Aug. 29, 1959, in Tyrone, she married Edwin Dean Reed, who preceded her in death on March 5, 1985. On Dec. 18, 1990, in Winchester, Va., she married William Sweeney, who preceded her in death on April 15, 1992.
She is survived by two sons: Ron and Dale Reed; four grandchildren: Kimberly Baker, Rachel Smith and Kourtney Winter and Tyler Winter; two great-grandchildren, Isabella Sanders and Oliver Kindle; four brothers: Frank, Tony, Jim and Joe Maisano; and three sisters: Cecilia Romano, Josiphine Eyer and Virginia Dimon. She was preceded by a brother, Nick Maisano.
Jeanette was a 1957 graduate of Tyrone Area High School. She worked for the Tyrone School District, as well as F&F Drycleaners, New Enterprise, as an office administrator, and the Coachlite Restaurant.
Jeanette was involved with many of the booster clubs for Tyrone athletics and in concessions for Tyrone wrestling, Tyrone football and Little League baseball. She was heavily involved with the Moose Club and was the Regent in Huntingdon for the Women of the Moose, for which she received a National Achievement Award for her service to the organization. Jeanette also enjoyed traveling.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone, as well as an hour before the 11 a.m. service Friday, April 18, 2025, at the home, with Ardean Latchford officiating.
