Erminia A. "Ermy" Ruggiere, 93, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Altoona, passed away Saturday at Garvey Manor Nursing Home, Hollidaysburg. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Salvatore and Stella (Gannarelli) Carosielli.
On Oct. 21, 1951, she married Michael S. Ruggiere at St. Joseph's in Bellwood. He preceded her in death on March 31, 2016.
She is survived by a daughter, Anita, L. (Kon) Goebel, of Garden Grove, Calif.; four sons: Paul A. (Carol) Ruggiere of Bellwood; Joseph Ruggiere of Weyauwega, Wis.; Michael S. Ruggiere Jr. of Altoona; and Raymond R. (Susan), of Weyauwega, Wis.; two grandchildren, Kelly Crownover of Bellwood and Vincent T. Ruggiere of Weyauwega, Wis.; a great-granddaughter, Lucia B. Crownover; a brother, Anthony (Kathy) Carosielli of Tyrone; and several nieces and nephews.
Ermy was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Carter, in California.
Ermy was a 1949 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School and received a vocational food service degree in Long Beach State from Orange Coast College in California.
She retired from Tyrone High School as a food service manager. Prior to retirement, she was a substitute teacher for Vo-Tech.
She was past president of the Business and Professional Women and a member of Saint Anthony Society. She enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge and pinochle.
Ermy was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bellwood.
At the request of the deceased, no public viewing will be held.
Friends will be received at the 11 a.m. funeral Mass Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at St. Joseph's Church, 623 E. Third St., Bellwood. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Santella Funeral Home.
