Bryson

Eleanor Lee Bryson, 88, of Palmetto, Fla., formerly of Hollidaysburg, went to be with the Lord Wednesday evening, April 23, 2025.

"Ellie," as she was known to family and friends, was born Feb. 12, 1937, in Lakemont. She was the oldest daughter of the late Robert A. Treese and Eva (Stiver) Treese. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Rutherford, and her second husband, John R. Schmerbeck. She was united in marriage to Allen E. Bryson on April 15, 1992, at the Fort Jackson Chapel in South Carolina. Mr. Bryson preceded her in death on Sept. 4, 2010.

She is survived by her five children: Susan (Schmerbeck) Kane and husband, Kerby, of Huntingdon; Richard A. Schmerbeck of Pinellas Park, Fla.; Lisa (Schmerbeck) Lord and husband, Christopher, of Birmingham, Ala.; Laurie (Schmerbeck) Doiron and husband, Michael, of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; and Tara (Schmerbeck) Soler and husband, William, of Palmetto, Fla. She had nine grandchildren: Lynn (Kane) Merrell and husband, Chris; Nathaniel Schmerbeck; Jessica Lord-Latner and wife, Bree; Emily Lord and fiance, Michael Hamilton; Erynn Lord Barrett and husband, Jeremiah; Nicholas Doiron; Sophie Doiron and fiance, Chris Saunders; Olive Doiron; and Whitley Canezo. Sadly, her first grandchild, J.R. Kane, preceded her in death. She also had five great-grandchildren: Jared Verba, Eliott Barrett, Edison Barrett, Ezra Barrett and Maeve Ross.

Ellie enjoyed flowers and plants all her life, many times making her family "stop the car" to dig up a species to plant at home. She passed along her lifelong passion for flowers to all of her children, as well as her endearing love of animals. She loved to spend time with her family and took many trips to visit them. Her beautiful smile and devoted love to her family will be dearly missed.

Friends will be received from 1 until 2 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2025, at John B. Brown Funeral Home, 417 Washington St., Huntingdon. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Barbara Servello officiating. Interment will follow in Huntingdon Memorial Gardens, Walker Township, Huntingdon.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her honor to the Huntingdon County Humane Society, 11371 Old School House Hollow Road, Huntingdon, PA 16652.
