Donald Wayne Miller, 84, formerly of Shirleysburg, died Saturday at Allegheny Lutheran Home, Hollidaysburg. He was born in Mount Union, a son of the late Cloyd William and Blanche Gertrude (Johnson) Miller.
He was united in marriage to Grace M. Miller (Mentzer) on June 23, 1974. She preceded Mr. Miller in death on Nov. 7, 2020.
He served his country in the U.S. Army as an artilleryman and retired from the former Owens-Corning Fiberglas Inc., Huntingdon. He also worked at his father's sawmill in Shirleysburg and for Goodyear in Ohio.
He loved being at Puzzletown Road Bible Church and had many friends at Calvary Bible Church, Cedar Crest Independent Baptist Church and a few others.
He loved farming and being caretaker of our property in Shirleysburg, where he enjoyed hunting, nearby fishing and hosting group events for our church and friends. Thanks to our home, Grace was able to enjoy all her kitties throughout the years. Joking and cutting up made him seem ornery, but he just liked to have a little fun.
He is survived by three children: Jamey Miller and his wife, Beverly, of Huntingdon; Debra Dial and her husband, Larry, of Petersburg, Va.; and Donna Miller of East Freedom; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a proud uncle of many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four sisters: Marie Stapleton, Hilda Minehart, Faye Bard and Darlene Warfel; and two brothers, Ron Miller and Paul Miller.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the funeral service at noon Saturday, April 19, 2025, at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, 565 Ridgley St., Orbisonia, with Pastor Bob Maurer and Pastor Jon Gross officiating. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Shade Gap.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation (parkinson.org), 5757 Waterford District Drive, Suite 310, Miami, FL 33126.
