Dale Martin Umholtz

July 19, 1943 – April 1, 2025

Dale Martin Umholtz, 81, Tyrone, passed away Tuesday at UPMC Altoona, marking the end of his journey. A heart too big for this world gave out, leaving his wife, Ann, and family to carry its beat.

He was born in Tyrone and grew up there, a son of the late Winfield Scott and Helen C. (Bratton) Umholtz.

He was married May 18, 1978, to Ann C. Saylor, who survives as his beloved wife. Together they built a life filled with love and family.

Also surviving are sons: Drew and Tim (Melinda) in Georgia and Brett and Ronnie Mills (Angel) of Tyrone. There are nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Dale was a 1961 graduate of Tyrone High School and worked as a lineman for Penelec for 32 years. After retirement, he taught Penelec linemen the skills for apprenticeship. For a short time, he was a Tyrone Borough Police Officer. Dale was also a member of the Local Union 459 IBEW.

He always enjoyed fishing, carpenter work and Steelers football. He was a champion marksman in various local pistol shoots.

Friends will be received from 2 until the 4 p.m. funeral service Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Derman Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone, with the Rev. Carl A. Schmidt officiating. Interment will be at Bald Eagle Cemetery.
