Angeline ‘Angie’ Batrus

Angeline "Angie" Batrus, 90, Altoona, passed away Tuesday at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Antonio and Carmella (Garafalo) Polignone.

She married George T. Batrus on Nov. 18, 1962. He preceded her in death on May 29, 2008.

Angie is survived by her two sons, George M. Batrus (Jennifer) of Altoona and Michael T. Batrus (Angie) of The Villages, Fla.; her four grandchildren: Matthew, Anna, Daniel and Dylan Batrus; and her sister, Mary Salome of Altoona.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Frankie and Anthony Polignone.

Angie had been employed by W.T. Grant Co. in the hardware department up until her marriage to George. She then spent her days being a devoted wife and mother to her family. After raising her children, she went to work at Tom & Joe's until just recently, where she worked alongside her family for the last 25 years.

She was a member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church.

Angie enjoyed going out to eat and taking day trips to the casinos. She liked watching game shows, but especially loved her time working the register and meeting all the people at Tom & Joe's.

Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., where a Trisagion service will take place at 4 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 10, 2025, at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 519 58th St., Altoona, with Father Isaac Danevicius officiating.

Interment will be held at Alto-Reste Park.
