Russell E. Mayhue, 92, Altoona, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Russell E. and Helen (Hess) Mayhue.
On Oct. 8, 1952, he married Darla J. (Boore) Mayhue, the love of his life. She preceded him in death on Feb. 8, 2015.
Surviving are six sons: Timothy (Lucinda), Russell (Karen), Mark (Kristen), Rodney (Dawn), Rodger (Carol) and Derrick (Gina); and a daughter, Cindy Boston (Kenneth); 10 grandchildren: Christine (William), Dawn (Brian), Russell Junior (Lisa), Brian (Lorie), Kimberly (Thomas), Lynette (Timothy), Melinda (Brian), Blaire (Matthew), Erin and Brianna (Tyler); 14 great-grandchildren: Karlee (Jessie), Lily, Rebecca, Bradley (Savannah), Taylor (Tyler), Keira, Kameron, Jordan, Austin, Alison, Emma, Brock, Owen and Kira; seven great-great-grandchildren: Zoeigh, Kamdin, Ryleigh, Zayden, Parker, Amelia and Josephina. He is also survived by in-laws: Alma, Peggy (Kenneth), Sondra, Samuel (Elaine) and Carrol.
He was preceded in death by in-laws: Helen Boore, Ruth and Albert, Janet and William, Clayton, Margie, Ronald, Harry, James and Joseph.
Russell was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Altoona, where he served as deacon, usher and on the Omega Fellowship. He loved flowers and planted them around the church for many years.
He retired after working 22 years at A&P Bakery and 20 years at Sel-Lo Oil Co.
Russell enjoyed gardening and sharing his vegetables with others. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2025, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Alto-Reste Park; and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Friday, March 28, 2025, at the funeral home, with Pastor Gary Dull officiating. Interment will be at Carson Valley Cemetery.
