Richard P. Conte Sr., 78, of Altoona, unexpectedly passed away Saturday, March 8, 2025, at home, where he wanted to be, surrounded by family. He was born in Altoona, son of the late John B. and Susan M. (Nardelli) Conte.
Surviving is his loving wife of 56 years, Sharon M. Conte; his son, Richard P. Conte Jr.; his daughter, Angela M. Conte; special grandson, Creed Jude Conte; three granddaughters: Nevaeh, Mirah and Adeline Conte; siblings: John Conte (Mary), Frances Balestino, Carol Schmittle, Susan Monroe (James), Louis and Robert Conte; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Richard was preceded in death by his son, Andrew Conte; his brother, Anthony Conte; and his stepmother, Olga Conte.
Richard was a 1964 graduate of Altoona High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam, retired from the Butterick Co., was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and enjoyed woodworking.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Altoona, with Father Patrick Corrigan, celebrant.
