Mitchell Andrew “Mitch” Culp, 59, formerly of Duncansville, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2025, in Virginia. He was the son of Darlene M. (VonDreau) Culp and the late Martin J. “Joe” Culp of Duncansville.

Surviving are his mother; his wife of nearly 25 years, Moira Devlin Culp of Virginia Beach, Va.; three children: Maire K. Howell of Keaau, Hawaii; Kathryn L. Heymann (Erik) of Irmo, S.C.; and Matthew D. Howell of Virginia Beach, Va.; four grandchildren: Maika’i Dela Cruz, Olu Dela Cruz, Natalie Heymann and Emily Heymann; two siblings, Rita L. Pompa (Joseph) and Martin J. “Marty” Culp (Dale); brother-in-law, Patrick L. Devlin (Karen); niece, Rebecca Culp; nephews: Anthony Pompa (Andrew), Timothy Devlin (Zac) and Alexander Devlin (Ann Marie); aunts: Mary Culp, Betsey Harris and Rosamond Brown (Roger); uncles, David Culp (Kathy) and Ronald VonDreau (Ruth); many cousins; and a great-nephew.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Matthew W. Culp.

As a youth, Mitch was a standout athlete in several sports, particularly baseball. A graduate of Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School, Mitch proudly served as a member of the Duncansville Volunteer Fire Department before joining the U.S. Army as an Army Firefighter serving in Operation Desert Storm.

Following his service, Mitch relocated to Virginia Beach, Va., where he later met his wife. He worked for the Chesapeake Regional Medical Center as a phlebotomist.

Mitch was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman. Over the years, he could be found most weekends enjoying the outdoors, hunting, boating or fishing, walking his beagles, cheering on his favorite teams, enjoying a round of golf or playing local and tournament softball.

He was a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation and VFW Post 6755.

A celebration of Mitch’s life will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2025, at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, Virginia Beach, Va.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a beagle rescue organization of your choice; or the Virginia Hunter Education Association.
