Mary Jane "Jane" Chirdon was taken to her eternal home on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Altoona and spent her childhood in Martinsburg with her parents, Paul and Julia (Replogle) Longenecker.
Jane is survived and was deeply loved by her husband, daughter, dog and cat, as well as her sister, Georgia (Bill) Hagstrom; as well as devoted nephews and nieces. Jane was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Annie Rhodes, brothers, Paul and Donald; as well as an infant brother.
Jane worked tirelessly as a beautician at Bert's Beauty Shop and Permanent Connection before retiring and moving to Camp Hill with her husband and daughter. She married Richard Chirdon on Sept. 29, 1974, and they recently celebrated their golden anniversary. She has one daughter, Erin, and enjoyed living with her family for the last 15 years at their shared home. Jane was a compassionate and true follower of God, whose life was lived to show his grace to others. Jane she attended Martinsburg Memorial Church of the Brethren, where she sang in the church choir. In Camp Hill, Jane and her family attended the Wesley United Methodist Church, where she served on several councils and helped often with spaghetti dinners.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Malpezzi Funeral Home, 8 Market Plaza Way, Mechanicsburg, where there will be a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will take place at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
