Marcella A. Salvi

Marcella A. Salvi, 87, of Altoona, passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon. She was born in McKees­port, the daughter of the late John and Joan Bator.

Marcella married Ernest Salvi on Oct. 30, 1954, and they shared 59 loving years together before his passing on June 23, 2013.

She is survived by five children: Vincent (Anita) Salvi of Millville, Del.; Damian (Diane) Salvi of York, Pa.; Christine (Mark) Myers; Joan (Randy) Donnelly; and Pamela (Steve) Brumbaugh, all of Altoona. Marcella also leaves behind 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded by her brother, Joseph.

Marcella was a devoted parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, where she dedicated countless hours of service to both the church and the school.

She was a gifted homemaker and became famous for her Italian cooking, where friends and family knew a visit to the Salvi home always meant a delicious meal.

In her leisure time, Marcella enjoyed playing cards, reading, entertaining friends and spending quality time with her family, especially during their annual beach vacations.

Her family and all who knew her were touched by her boundless love, generosity and selfless service. She truly lived by the belief that "it is in giving that we receive."

Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2025, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2025, at St. Rose of Lima Church, Altoona, by Father John Lynam, celebrant. Committal services will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to the Salvi Endowment, c/o Bishop Guilfoyle Academy, 2400 Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.
