Lynn E. ‘Smitty’ Smith

Lynn E. “Smitty” Smith, 73, of Hollidaysburg, passed away Tuesday at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Altoona, a son of the late William C. and Barbara (Riley) Smith.
On Oct. 7, 1969, in Greensboro, N.C., he was united in marriage to the former Deborah (Cox) Smith.
Along with his wife of 55 years, Lynn is survived by children: Stephanie J. Wombacher, married to Phillip H. of Altoona; Lynn E. Smith Jr., married to Kelly A. of Hollidaysburg, Shelley K. Rickabuagh, married to John J. of East Freedom; Calandra Earnest, married to Matthew of Wakeforest, N.C.; Jonathan McNelis of Orlando, Fla. and Sarah Litzinger of Altoona; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; siblings: Kay A. Martin of Longwood, Fla., Gloria J. Shirk, married to Harold of Lancaster; David L. Smith, married to Lynn of Dubuque, Iowa; and James A. Smith, married to Debbie of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; and a sister-in-law, Joann Smith of Quarryville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Smith; and dog and best friend, “Hunter.”
Lynn was a graduate of Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School, Class of 1969.
As a child, he began helping his father at Smith Twine Co. He went on to spend a lifetime working as a truck driver, driving for Roadway Express until retiring, and later for New Penn Trucking. He was a member of both the Central and Western PA Teamsters Unions.
Smitty enjoyed golfing, traveling, gambling and all kinds of sports. He loved shooting pool and his passion led him to take ownership of Different Strokes Billiards from 2016-21.
He was of the Protestant faith.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 10, 2025, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., 108 Alto-Reste Park, Altoona; and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the funeral home.
Burial will be held privately at Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.
