Joyce Lenora (Hoffman) Boyer, 91, formerly of Tyrone, passed away at the Church of God Home in Carlisle. She was born in Tyrone, daughter of the late John Orace and Luella (Burns) Hoffman.
She was married Aug. 2, 1952, to Charles W. "Bill" Boyer, who preceded her in death on Feb. 17, 2007.
Joyce was a 1951 graduate of Tyrone High School and a lifetime member of the Christ United Methodist Church, where she served in many capacities.
She retired from Kopp Drug in Tyrone in 1966 and was formerly employed at City Pharmacy and Bell Telephone.
Joyce enjoyed reading, sending cards, the Steelers and Penn State football.
She was grateful for her church family and wonderful neighbors.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Judy (Carl) Meiss of York Haven; a son, Dr. James (Marie) Boyer of Fort Washington; three grandsons: Travis (Becki) Meiss, Steven Boyer and Eric (Terri) Boyer; and four great-grandchildren: Leah and Caleb Meiss and J.J. and Olivia Boyer.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, T. Louise MacLachlan and Ardenia M. Corman.
Friends will be received from noon until the 2 p.m. funeral service Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Derman Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone, with Pastor James House officiating. Burial will be at Bald Eagle Cemetery.
