Janet Kay Dodson (Rossman) Kauffman

Janet Kay Dodson (Rossman) Kauffman, 91, of Altoona, entered eternal rest on Wednesday. She was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late Claude David Dodson and Antionette Marie (Bacza) Dodson.

Janet graduated from Altoona High School in 1951 in the commercial course of study. She went on to earn her cosmetology license from Altoona Beauty School in 1976. Janet quickly excelled and became a teacher and supervisor at Altoona Beauty School from 1976-84. She went on to open her own salon, which she ran for many years.

In 1956, Janet married the late Donald W. Rossman, and together they welcomed three sons.

In 1985, Janet married the late Rev. William W. Kauffman.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Claude Dodson; sisters, Jackie Brunner and Patty Cameron; and great-granddaughter, Addison Rossman.

Surviving are her three sons: Donald C. Rossman Sr., Dean R. Rossman and Timothy (Wendy) R. Rossman; her sister, Nancy Noye; 11 grandchildren: Adam, Scott, David, Tim Jr., Hannah, Donald Jr., Brittany, Michael, Catherine, D.J. and Ben; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Janet enjoyed cooking for her family and was known for her homemade macaroni and cheese and having a fridge full of soda and snacks for her grandkids to enjoy during their visits. She loved collecting Cabbage Patch Dolls and Disney VHS tapes for her grandkids. Janet also cherished the time and memories she was able to share with her late best friend, Gay Pezzoli.

Janet was a member of 58th Street United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Interment is at Rosehill Cemetery.
