Jane Thecla (Brophy) Shover, 97, formerly of Hollidaysburg, passed away peacefully on Wednesday at her residence in Kilmarnock, Va. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Thomas E. and Alice Mary (McCahill) Brophy.
Jane is survived by her children: Michael Shover, Molly Cash (Doug) and Erin Shover; six grandchildren: Jessica Springer, Matthew Shover, Emily Lenz (Jake), Caitlin DeNillo (Nick), Michael Cash and Alexander Quicksell; three great-grandchildren: Moria DeNillo, Thomas and Brody Lenz; a sister, Frances Chramek; and family friend, Brooke Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Harry T. "Sam" Shover; and her sisters, Elizabeth "Bette" Osman and Mary Alice "Sr. Michelle" Brophy.
Jane loved to garden and grew the most beautiful flowers. She enjoyed bowling, sewing and cross-stitch. Jane loved to "jitterbug with Sam" to the tunes from the 1940s. She cherished her family time, especially the annual Ocean City, Md., beach trips. Jane was a loving wife, generous mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and she will be greatly missed.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2025, at the Stevens Memorial Chapel, 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, with Monsignor Michael Becker. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
