Granton E. McClelland, 87, of Roaring Spring, passed away Wednesday at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, Roaring Spring. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Helen (Cochran) Olewine.
On July 8, 1960, he married Lauretta Beryle Baker in Punxsutawney. She preceded him in death on June 10, 2022, after 61 years of marriage.
Granton is survived by his two loving daughters, Pamela Dennis of Roaring Spring and Dana James (Timothy) of East Freedom; four grandchildren: Mary Ardene Carter, Hailee Rebekah Lang (James), Amanda Elizabeth Dennis (fiance, Jourdan Miller) and Paige Nicole Baird (Jonathan); four great-grandchildren: Madalyn, Raelynne, Larrett and Cameron; brother, James McClelland (Judy) of James Creek; and sister-in-law, Gloria McClelland.
In addition to his mother and wife, Granton was preceded in death by his daughter, VeeAnn Schmidt; sons-in-law, Donald Dennis and Ronald Schmidt; brother, Charles McClelland; and sister, Delores McClelland.
Granton was a 1955 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School.
He served in the United States Army and attained the rank of Private First Class. After his service, he worked at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home as the storekeeper for 35 years before retiring in 1993.
Granton was a member of the Bavarian Aid Society and enjoyed camping and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was of the Methodist faith.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2025, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., 108 Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2025, at The Good Funeral Home Inc., Altoona with full military honors. Interment at Alto-Reste Park, Altoona.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Granton to Freedom Township Fire Company, 139 Municipal St., East Freedom, PA 16637.
