Donna Caroline Gargon, 88, Duncansville, peacefully passed away at her home Monday surrounded by family. She was born in Gallitzin, daughter of the late Hector J. and Stella (Yeckley) Ferri.
Preceding her in death were a granddaughter, Elisse Khara; sister, Bonnie Gatewood; and brother, James Ferri.
Donna is survived by her loving husband, Paul, whom she married July 25, 1958; four daughters: Susan Centineo and husband, Michael DiFrancesco; Lisa and husband, John Martin; Dianne Elizabeth; and Dana Daugherty and Jeff Resch; grandchildren: Asa Gargon-Hernandes; Laura Nowalk and husband, David; Seth Catley and wife, Mckenzie; Rachael Lamkin-Weaver (lovingly raised by Donna and Paul) and husband Jesse; and Anna Daughtery; 11 great-grandchildren:
Jeremy, Aria, Delilah, Rylee, Lucas, Victoria, Poet, Lucy, Jesse, Maria and Sophia; sisters, Deanna (Artemus) Brown and Sylvia (Herb) Engler; and many nieces and nephews.
A 1954 graduate of Gallitzin High School, Donna worked at Bell of PA in Philadelphia as telephone operator, at Sylvania in Altoona as secretary, at JC Penney in Cleveland as PBX operator and also at JC Penney in Altoona in fine jewelry. She was executive secretary for East Cleveland Board of Education and teacher's assistant and tutor at Christ the King school, also in Cleveland. She worked at Washington Township BOE in Sewell, N.J., as department secretary.
Donna loved the beach, especially Cape May. She loved baking, crocheting, reading and the artist Vincent Van Gogh.
Donna loved her Catholic faith and spending time with family. She had a great sense of humor and was very much a lady.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2025, at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church St., Gallitzin.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2025, at St. Demetrius Catholic Church, Gallitzin. Committal will be at the Resurrection Mausoleum, St. Mary's, Gallitzin.
