Charles "Chuck" Endress, 78, Altoona, passed away Saturday at Hilltop Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Albert Edward and Judith Jane (Hyle) Endress.
He was preceded in death by sisters: Nancy Lattieri, Judith Layton, Donna Schneider and Carole Forney; and a brother, Albert "Butch" Endress.
He is survived by a son, Shaun (Cheryl) Endress; and daughters, Sharon (Tony) Decatur and Nicole (Jared) Benton.
Chuck was a 1965 graduate of Altoona High School and retired from Norfolk Southern after 30 years of service.
He was a dedicated veteran who proudly served his country in the United States Army, and then served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. During his time, he was awarded various service metals.
Chuck enjoyed chatting with whoever crossed his path. He made many wonderful memories hunting deer with his brother, son and nephew. He was also an enthusiastic advocate for stray animals and took many into his care over the years.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., 719 N. Fourth Ave., Altoona.
