Ray Arland Shoup
April 15, 1939 – Jan. 8, 2025
Ray Arland Shoup, 85, Duncansville, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday at UPMC Presbyterian. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Ray V. and Nellie G. (Weyant) Shoup.
He married Georgia Mae Huhn on Nov. 14, 1997, in Winchester, Va.
Surviving is his wife, “Georgie”; two daughters, Barbara Sigmon (Wil) in South Carolina and Vicki Wegner (Joel) in Virginia; four grandchildren: Meagen, Lauren and Zachary (April) Sigmon and Micah Wegner; and two sisters, Janice Moorehead and Dorothy Kane, both of Dry Run.
He was preceded in death by his former wife, Margaret R. (Shaffer) Stevanus.
Arland was a 1957 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam era. He retired from Blair Christian Home as maintenance supervisor and previously owned a plumbing and heating business.
He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, where he volunteered with The Way of Truth High Way Ministries. Arland enjoyed hunting, WWII history, doing automotive restoration and watching NASCAR.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the funeral service at noon with military honors on Monday, Jan. 13, 2025, at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., Duncansville. Pastors Gary Dull and Joel Wegner will co-officiate. Interment will take place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Henrietta.
