Lorena Mary Estep

Lorena Mary Estep, 83, of Bellwood, died early Thursday morning at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Altoona, after an extended illness. She was born at home in Bellwood, a daughter of the late David Blair and Retta Agnes (Benn) Montgomery.
She is survived by her husband, Charles L. Estep; three children: Lance (Jana) Sneath and their children, Matthew, Caleb and Olivia; Tamira (Joseph H.) Thayne and their children: Rayne (Kristin) and Brynakha; and Vincent Sneath and his children: Austen and Scott (Lex G.); two stepchildren, Michael (Leslie) Estep, and his daughter, Abbey (Danielle M.); and Tiffanie (Chris) Rupp, and their children: Hannah, Alyssa and Tessa; and two sisters, Evelyn Miller and Mary (Lanny) Burgoon.
Lorena lived most of her life in the Bellwood area. She was a 1959 graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School and was crowned “queen of football” her senior year.
She retired as a caseworker at Pennsylvania Dept. of Welfare in Altoona. An avid reader, Lorena wrote and published three Christian fiction novels after her retirement.
She held a lifelong love of travel, the Christmas season, her community of faith and time spent with her family and friends.
Friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, at Jon C. Russin Funeral Home Inc., Bellwood. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Pastor John Poe officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions in Lorena’s memory be made to Hillside Community Church, Bellwood.
