Carol A. Claar

Carol A. Claar, 74, of Claysburg, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday. She was born in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late David Merle and Helen (Musselman) Deffibaugh.
She married Philip D. Claar on Aug. 31, 1990, in Cumberland, Md.
Surviving are her husband; a son, Harry Benton IV and wife, Trish; two granddaughters, Terissa and Taylor; three great-grandchildren: Dominic, Grayson and Baylee; a sister, Mary Lou Claycomb (Troy); and a brother, David Lee Deffibaugh (Connie).
She was preceded in death by her son, Kevin W. Benton; and brothers, Dennis and John Deffibaugh.
Carol was a member of Upper Claar Church of the Brethren.
She was a 1968 graduate of Claysburg-Kimmel High School and was employed over the years at Cove Shoe, Sam Weyant Farms and Exact Level.
Carol enjoyed working in her yard, going on long walks, hunting, fishing and spending time at the hunting camp in Potter County.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, at Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, 2025, at Upper Claar Church of the Brethren, with Pastor Mark Wyland officiating. Interment at Lower Claar Cemetery.
