James S. Peters

James S. Peters, 78, of Duncansville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, surrounded by his family. He was born in Butler, son of the late Carl A. and

Margaret (Groves) Peters.

Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Evelyn (Jornales); five sons: Daniel and wife, Jennifer; Jimmie and wife, Laura; Darren and wife, Danielle; Alex and wife, Jessica; and Warren, all of Hollidaysburg; 13 grandchildren; and two sisters, Judith Makray and Linda Switzer.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Peters Jr.

Jim graduated from East Brady High School in 1964 and earned an AST while serving in the U.S. Navy.

He served in the U.S. Army Reserves for seven years, then enlisted in the U.S. Navy and retired after 20 years as a Chief Petty Officer.

Jim attended Berean Baptist Church.

He enjoyed fishing, country music, traveling, entrepreneurship and vacationing in Key West.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until noon Thursday, Sept. 12, 2024, at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a funeral service will immediately follow at noon, with Pastor Andrew Hadden officiating.

Interment with full military honors at Carson Valley Cemetery.
