Benjamin A. Shaffer, 36, of Altoona, passed away Monday at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Altoona, a son of Thomas and Sharon (Livingston) Shaffer.
Surviving are his parents, of Altoona; grandmother, Susan Livingston; and a brother, Jonathan and wife, Rachel, of West Chester.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Jr.; and grandparents: Bennett and Joan Shaffer, and Alton Livingston.
Ben graduated from Altoona Area High School in 2006 and from Penn State University with a BS in Communications. He was employed at Veeder-Root Co.
He served on the board of Altoona Area Teener Baseball League where he was a coach and umpire. He was a member of the PSU Alumni Association and Eldorado Civic Association.
Ben enjoyed PSU and Steelers football. He loved coaching and working with kids, and spending time with his family, friends and dogs.
Friends will be received from noon to 2 and 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2024, at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2024, at the funeral home.
Private interment at Alto-Reste Park.
