Richard S. "Rick" Nelson, 68, of Altoona, died Friday at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Williamsport, a son of William J. Jr. and Frances (Speaker) Nelson.
He was twice married: first on March 31, 1974, to Deborah McMurray, who preceded him; then on May 14, 2015, he married Kelly Baker, who survives.
In addition to his wife, Kelly, he is survived by children: Diana Nelson, Karen Aschliman and James Nelson; grandchildren: Liam Armstrong, Reese and Hazel Aschliman; his brothers: Dave (Mary Jo) Nelson, Jeff (Faith) Nelson and John (Dawn) Nelson.
He was a 1973 graduate of State College High School and served in the U.S. Army.
Rick was a member of the Altoona Swiss Club and the Bellwood Eagles.
He retired from Fiore Auto Dealership and had previously worked at the family Chevrolet and Oldsmobile Nelson Dealership in Tyrone.
A celebration of life will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2024, at the Altoona Swiss Club, 1219 Harrison Ave., Altoona. His inurnment will be at the Centre Co. Memorial Park in State College.
Arrangements are by Derman Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone.
