Barbara J. Luciano, 87, of Altoona went home to be with the Lord Tuesday evening, May 7, 2024, at UPMC Altoona.

She was born Oct. 21, 1936, in Altoona, a daughter of the late Joseph Francis and Mary Pearl (Slick) Haigh.

Surviving are three sisters: Joanne Ryan of Altoona, Janet L. Bierwith of Orchard Park, N.Y., and Clara L. Basom of Altoona; and numerous nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Wendy J. Van Clief (Jeffrey) of Mechanicsville, Va.

Barbara was preceded in death by brothers: Durwood Haigh, James Haigh, William Haigh and Robert Haigh; and a sister, Marlene Turner.

Ms. Luciano was a life member of Trans4mation Church, Altoona, and served as the church's organist for over 50 years.

She was a 1954 graduate of Altoona High School.

She retired in 2023 from Advantage Resources, Altoona, following 20 years' service. She had previously been employed by Mobil Oil and then by McMahon's Dairy, serving at both firms for 20 years.

Barbara enjoyed cooking and canning. She lived a life of service to others.

She will especially be remembered as a greeter at Trans4mation Church, where her hugs will certainly be missed.

She enjoyed going to Florida, where she spent time with family.

Barbara typically blessed the meals that the family shared together. She loved and cared for many, especially her nieces and nephews, whom she showered with love, encouragement and prayers.

She was a blessing in all our lives and she will be profoundly missed.

Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2024, and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Trans4mation Church, 1001 S. First St., Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, with Pastor Jim Balzano officiating. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.

The family appreciates flowers; however, memorial donations may also be made to Trans4mation Station Pre-School, 1001 S. First St., Altoona, PA 16602.
