John W. Blatt, 86, of Altoona, passed away Monday at Cedarwood Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Tyrone. He was born in Altoona; son of the late Charles B. and Mabel P. (Dey) Blatt.
On Jan. 15, 1959, in Cumberland, Md., he was united in marriage to Emily M. (Jones) Blatt, who survives.
John was a Class of 1956 graduate of Altoona High School. He retired on Aug. 1, 1999, from Gateway Communications (WTAJ-TV) after 42 years of service, most of them serving as Chief Engineer. John was a member of the North Altoona Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Surviving are his wife, Emily; son, Michael D. Blatt of Corning, N.Y.; son, David J. Blatt of Altoona; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren, with another on the way.
At the request of the deceased, a memorial service will be held at a later date. Please check the funeral home website for information as it becomes available.
Inurnment will be in Logan Valley Cemetery.
