Doris Marie (Ott) Ferry

Doris Marie (Ott) Ferry, 91, of Roaring Spring, died Wednesday. She was born in Roaring Spring, the daughter of Charles Ralph Ott and Flossie Irene (Miller) Ott, both of whom preceded her in death.

Her sister, Rosella Elizabeth Ott, and a brother, Charles Irvin Ott, both passed away when they were still children.

Doris married Ronald Robert Ferry in Roaring Spring on Dec. 31, 1950. Ronald passed away on Dec. 4, 2010.

Surviving are her two children, Tammy L. Keith and husband, Phillip W. Keith, and Robert C. Ferry and wife, Dawn G. Ferry. Doris is also survived by four grandchildren: Jamie M. Dunmire and husband, Travis G. Dunmire; Jonathan Hunter Ferry; Grant C. Ferry; and Skylar A. Ferry; four great-grandchildren: Alyssa M. Reed, Noah R. Reed, Nicholas G. Dunmire and Addison G. Dunmire.

Doris loved her husband of 59 years and her children deeply. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy.

After graduating from Roaring Spring High School in 1949, she worked in retail sales in Roaring Spring until 1956. She then worked at Sylvania in Altoona until 1965.

She was an active Trinity United Methodist Church member her entire life and was the last surviving charter member of the I.H.S. Sunday School Class. She enjoyed helping in the church kitchen with church dinners and Manna on Main Street, as well as helping with Angel Food Ministries.

Doris was a member and past president of the former Roaring Spring Dandy Lions. She was a member of the Roaring Spring Chapter 121 Order of the Eastern Star and later the Hollidaysburg Chapter 471 OES.

She enjoyed music, playing the piano and organ, crocheting, cooking, canning and many trips to the mountains to enjoy the natural beauty around her.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, 2024, at Todd T. Thompson Funeral Home, 734 New St., Roaring Spring.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22, 2024, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 434 E. Main St., Roaring Spring, with Pastors Ryan Gerhart and Charles Baughman officiating. A luncheon will follow.

Interment will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery in Roaring Spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church in Roaring Spring.
